NC State University Graduation Portraits: Macayla

Portraits

December 11, 2017

When Macayla contacted me about doing her graduation portraits at NC State, I was thrilled!!! We actually met at our dance studio SO long ago! I believe we were about 4 or 5 years old when we met! So crazy! I hadn’t seen her in years and it was great to catch up not only with her, but with her sweet mom and aunt as well!

Believe it or not, I had never visited NC State’s campus! I’ve been to Raleigh quite a bit for weddings, but not really ever for portraits. Macayla actually gives tours of campus, so she was able to show me around like no one else would have been able to, and answer all of my questions! 🙂

We had to stop at all of the iconic NC State spots, starting with the Talley Student Union! Macayla was decked out in her red and white cap, gown, and cords, and her beautiful black dress and heels! We moved on from the student union out to the iconic wolves, which are amazing by the way, and way bigger than I thought they’d be!

Next, we visited their free expression tunnel, and then visited the historic 1911 building, which has beautiful architecture! That building faces the Court of North Carolina, which is a beautiful green area. We were lucky to have so many beautiful fall colors still on the trees as well!

We ended Macayla’s beautiful portrait session at the NC State Memorial Bell Tower, which was hands down my favorite spot! She looked so elegant in her gorgeous black dress, and the bell tower and pretty fall color was the perfect backdrop. We took some super cute confetti photos too!!! I had never done that before and it was so fun! She ended her portrait session by taking very sweet photos with her mom and aunt, and then revealing a framed portrait she brought of her grandmother, who passed away earlier this year. It was such a beautiful and emotional tribute to her grandmother!

Congratulations, Macayla! I can’t wait to see what you’re going to do next!!!

While I was in the area, I also had the chance to visit several high school and college friends I hadn’t gotten to see in so long! If you are interested in a college graduation portrait session, email me at hello@kevyndixonphoto.com! I’m already booking for you spring 2018 grads out there!!!
