I can’t believe that baby Lucas is one! Just last year, I was photographing his newborn portraits in this same Concord NC studio. It’s hard to believe how grown up he is now. His mom, Sarah, is a friend of mine. We went to middle and high school together. Then, we had babies in the same year. It’s been such an honor to watch her son grow up – and capture these special moments for their family! 

Charlotte NC Studio First Birthday Portraits 

When Sarah and I began to plan Lucas’s first birthday portraits, she knew that she wanted a very classic vibe for the session. I think it worked out SO well to use the exact same studio as we did a year ago. There’s something incredibly special about seeing him crawl around the same space we captured his first photos. This year, he was definitely a sweet and active little guy in the cutest little blue jumper! We used an old rocking chair and wooden high chair as props, but otherwise really just focused on Lucas. Sarah even brought a little cupcake for him to “smash” in the high chair. It was adorable!! 

First birthday portraits are such a special memory to create. Whether we’re in a studio like this or out at your family’s home, it’s all about capturing what makes your little one unique! I encourage parents to think about the spaces they want to display their photos when planning outfits and decor. Being able to match the studio vibe to his newborn portraits means that Lucas and his parents can create a really cohesive display or album of all of these sweet photos! It will be such a meaningful way to capture his first year!

Happy birthday again, Lucas! I just adore you (and your mama!). I’m so happy we could capture these sweet first birthday photos for you! I can’t wait to watch you grow up.
