As wedding photographers, it’s our job to be prepared for anything on a wedding day. In the past few years, I’ve photographed numerous rainy wedding days. Rainy wedding days are still so beautiful – and a great chance to get creative as an artist. But, there’s also some very practical things to consider during them. We have to protect our equipment and create images that are still high-quality and exactly what our couples are hoping for. That’s why today, I’m sharing 5 rainy day wedding must-haves! I keep these on hand whether the weather calls for rain or not, because you never know when it might hit!

Clear Bubble Umbrellas

I LOVE these umbrellas for wedding days! There’s something romantic about a kiss under an umbrella and they’re great for keeping everyone dry. Since they’re clear, there’s no worry about color reflecting back on anyone during the photos, which is a plus when it comes for editing. Rain Boots

Whether it’s raining the day of the wedding, or it rained recently, boots are ALWAYS a great thing to have on hand. I love these water boots. They’re short, but keep all of the water and mud off of me during portraits. I keep them in my car and it’s so easy to slip them on and off so I can be mud-free when I head inside for the party. Clear Shower Curtain

If your bride wants portraits outside in the rain (or on a muddy day), grab a clear shower curtain liner or curtain. You can have the bride step on the clear liner to keep the bottom of the dress clean and mud-free. It’s a great trick to keep everyone clean and dry before the celebration and since it’s clear, it’s easy to hide in the photos and later in editing. Another win-win for me. Grab a curtain HERE. 

Hair Dryer

I love having this compact hair dryer on hand during wedding days. It’s perfect to help quickly dry folks (or yourself!) off throughout the day. Even with umbrellas and the curtains, during a drizzly day, it’s likely that everyone will still get a little wet.
