I love when people reach out to me with a new idea for portraits, especially when they’re as fun and playful as these 30th birthday portraits for Emily are! I’ve done anniversary portraits with Emily and her husband, DJ, a couple of times. I absolutely adore working with them both! Emily reached out to me with the idea to capture a fun session for her 30th birthday – and was worried I might not want to do it. But as I read through her idea, how could I not want to?! We planned this amazing session right in her house to celebrate the big 3-0! 

Charlotte NC 30th Birthday Portraits

Emily planned a ridiculously fun shoot to celebrate her milestone birthday. Every detail gave me Barbie and bubble gum pop vibes – which I think is fitting, given how all of us kids of the 90s grew up! We put up a bright pink backdrop for her to sit on with balloons, confetti, and even some champagne! We may or may not have gotten champagne all over her living room, actually… Of course, she also picked up a gorgeous cake to use for the session too! She wore the cutest outfit and we just enjoyed the time celebrating her. These portraits are meant to be a lot of fun, full of everything that makes a birthday exciting. Emily made them feel so elegant, too!

Honestly, this was the most fun I’ve had doing portraits in awhile! Emily, thank you for coming up with such a great idea to celebrate your birthday.
