Foggy Mountain Engagement Session

Kim and Jonathan’s foggy mountain engagement session is one of my all time favorites, ever! I can’t believe I haven’t shared it yet on the blog but I’m grateful to be doing so today. As an alumni of Appalachian State, being in the mountains for portrait sessions is so special to me. When Kim and Jonathan asked about meeting up at Appalachian Mountain Brewery and Moses Cone Manor for their portraits, I was definitely thrilled! It was great to be in the mountain air again, and with two more alums, too!

We began Kim and Jonathan’s session at Appalachian Mountain Brewery! It’s one of m favorite spots to hang out. They enjoyed a beer and we toasted their engagement, celebrating all that’s ahead for them. Kim’s gorgeous red dress looked AMAZING against the wood of the brewery. Kim and Jonathan laughed and were so relaxed, it made my job easy. I love watching my couples be together – as they really are, laughing and smiling. We talked some about their time at ASU, where they both studied to be a teachers. Jonathan actually proposed to Kim in her classroom, how sweet is that?!!

After the brewery, we headed over to Moses Cone Manor. The fog there set in SO quickly but it turned out to be pretty amazing for some dramatic shots. I’m still obsessed with the black and whit portraits we grabbed during their session. It’s super dramatic, and I love it! Thankfully Kim and Jonathan were amazing and rolled with the punches along with me as the weather changed. After walking around the manor, we began to head onto the Blue Ridge Parkway and found a random spot to pull over for some last portraits of Kim and Jonathan. I appreciate them trusting me and my vision – and not being afraid to just jump out and pose.

Kim and Jonathan, thank you for an amazing (and dramatic!) foggy mountain engagement session. I loved creating these portraits with you – and I’m thrilled you trusted me. I can’t wait to share your Sky Retreat wedding day on the blog soon!!!!
